Nick Peterson has earned a national reputation as a speaker who shows
audiences the power of using compassion and humor to deal with adversity.
Nick has lived with Parkinson's Disease since 1975, when he was 25 years old.
He now helps businesses, organizations, and individuals become aware of the
enormous benefit in understanding the needs of people with disabilities. His
programs offer real life information that you can't read in books-information
that can help right now in making and maintaining productive relationships
with employees, colleagues, clients, friends, and family.
Nick changes attitudes. His non-confrontational, accessible approach defuses
the mostly unspoken fear that often clouds our dealings with people who are
"different." Using his storytelling skills and quiet humor, Nick brings his
audiences inside the experience of disability for a short time. They emerge
with a greater understanding not only of the lives of others, but also their
own. Nick's message to "Take a Second Look" urges people to look beneath what
appears on the surface to see the real person, not the stereotype.
Flavored with his unique humorous perspective, Nick's keynotes are often
poignant and always inspirational and life-affirming. His comfort with
himself and his condition make his presentations a memorable experience.
Audiences marvel at his ability to speak clearly through the movements
sometimes generated by his Parkinson's. (As Nick likes to tell meeting
planners, "I'm my own visual aid."). He gets people's attention. They listen
and they remember.
