Pete Swanson,
a senior partner at Carr Swanson & Randolph, LLC,
helps people and organizations better connect and communicate
with each other. He is an accomplished mediator, coach,
facilitator, trainer and consultant in leadership development
and alignment and systemic/organizational change. With
extensive domestic and international experience, he specializes
in leadership development and training; complex organizational,
cultural and systemic change; and providing mediation/conflict
resolution services, training and education.
Over the past two decades, Mr. Swanson has been at the cutting edge of
leadership development and complex systemic organization change efforts.
He regularly facilitates senior executive leadership programs in the
intelligence community and federal agencies; provides executive coaching
services to senior leaders, and presides over numerous organizational
culture change efforts. He has served as course designer and lead trainer
and instructor for over 3,000 students in hundreds of mediation, leadership/negotiation,
and facilitation courses and workshops for over 50 federal/state/local
and international agencies and organizations in four continents and 18
countries including Afghanistan, Argentina, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Croatia,
Kosovo, Slovenia, Serbia, India, Guatemala, Panama, Japan, Greece, Sweden,
Korea, Nepal, Cyprus and Austria.
Mr. Swanson is an innovator in the field of difficult conversations and
negotiating with difficult personalities, having designed courses, taught
and coached many managers, executives and leaders who are involved in
potentially difficult conversations of any sort to enhance their communication
and negotiation skills to reach a deeper level of connection and understanding
and transform adversarial relationships into productive partnerships.
Mr. Swanson has been a mediator and neutral party for two decades, serving
12 years at the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service as a Commissioner.
While at the FMCS he was a principle architect of their domestic and
international alternative dispute resolution programs, and served as
a mediator and facilitator in many public policy, labor, grant, employment,
EEO, and environmental disputes.
Mr. Swanson holds a B.A. in Cultural Anthropology and an M.S degree in
Conflict Management, as well as most courses for his doctorate in Conflict
Analysis and resolution, all from George Mason University.
